Is it May already?
Ok, first of all what the heck happened to the month of April?!! Did it just disappear for you like it did for me? I mean, honestly. What.. the.. heck....
So, as we move into the month of May, I wanted to at least bring up the fact that it is in fact Mental Awareness Month.
What does this mean to all of you?
Well, in my words, every day is mental awareness day, but for this month in particular, it is where different mental health organizations come together to provide us techniques and exercises that anyone can implement to enhance our well-being.
Did you know?
According to Wikipedia, Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as Mental Health Month has been observed in May in the U.S. since 1948? Many organizations and its affiliates that are interested in mental health conduct a number of activities which are based on a different theme each year. Going all the way back to 2008, it is quite interesting to see what part of mental health was being focused on, yet so much of the world is still afraid to talk about it in which lies the ugly stigma....
Why now?
Over the past two years, I have really started to dig deep and overcome the fears of judgment due to sharing so openly about my life. Each day I opened up made me a little bit stronger not just for myself but for every single person who felt like they were drowning in the stigma of mental health. Now, more than ever it is so important to take time for self care. WE need to learn to not neglect ourselves when it comes to taking a time out. Have you downloaded the free downloadable Self Discovery Journaling Prompts? Grab it at the link. I find that journaling often helps. I also listen to my Spotify play list daily. Music helps my soul (insert heart emoji). Now is the time my friends. This isolation business has me feeling all kinds of ways and I have to find things to distract me besides eating all the things.
What can I do?
I am here for you more now than ever. I am reachable by just about any social media outlet or even text. Need to vent? I am here. Need to cry? yup, I am your girl. Do not let what is going on around you define you. I literally take each day one step at a time. I can help you get through it. Remember to put yourself on that priority list of things to accomplish. WE can do this together. Sending you hugs from afar.

Dear U.S. Veterans:
You, our U.S. Veterans, deserve the best healthcare that even God Himself expects our Veterans to receive, including first-do-no-harm healthcare. For example, the very great human resources and other resources of VA healthcare research capability may very well be what God uses to put an end to the international pandemic of mental healthcare iatrogenesis which is a major cause of psychiatric morbidity and mortality including suicides. However, the VA needs to take more steps to allow our U.S. Veterans to drive VA research and VA healthcare. For indeed, one of the most valuable human resources for such research and healthcare improvements is our U.S. Veterans themselves, including through empowering our U.S. Veterans to drive this research through…
